Your dua – in your own words

Choose what is on your heart, write it in your own words and say who you are praying for. We put your dua together the way the Prophet ﷺ taught: with praise of Allah, blessings on the Prophet, the fitting beautiful names of Allah – and with the real duas of the Quran and the Sunnah.

وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ (40:60)

What is on your heart?

Who are you praying for?

When duas are answered

  1. 1In the last third of the nightAllah asks: who is calling upon Me, that I may answer him? (al-Bukhari 1145, Muslim 758)
  2. 2In prostrationThe servant is closest to his Lord when he prostrates, so make much dua then. (Muslim 482)
  3. 3Between adhan and iqamahThe dua between the call to prayer and the iqamah is not rejected. (Abu Dawud 521, at-Tirmidhi 212)
  4. 4The hour on FridayOn Friday there is an hour in which Allah grants every good request. (al-Bukhari 935, Muslim 852)
  5. 5Parents, travellers, the wrongedThree duas are answered without doubt: that of the parent, the traveller and the one who is wronged. (Abu Dawud 1536, at-Tirmidhi 1905)

How to make dua

  • Begin with praise of Allah and blessings on the Prophet ﷺ, then ask. (at-Tirmidhi 3477, Abu Dawud 1481)
  • Pray with certainty that Allah will answer. (at-Tirmidhi 3479)
  • Be patient – do not say: I prayed and was not answered. (al-Bukhari 6340, Muslim 2735)
  • Pray for others in their absence – an angel says: and for you the same. (Muslim 2732)
