Why learning the Quran matters more than anything

For a believing Muslim, the Quran is the word of Allah – the guide for life and the companion in the grave and on the Day of Judgement. The Prophet ﷺ placed learning it above everything else:

“The best of you are those who learn the Quran and teach it.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 5027
“Read the Quran, for it will come on the Day of Resurrection as an intercessor for its companions.”
Sahih Muslim 804
“Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah receives a good deed, and every good deed is multiplied by ten.”
Jamiʿ at-Tirmidhi 2910
“The one who recites the Quran skilfully will be with the noble, righteous scribes, and the one who recites it with difficulty, stumbling over it, receives a double reward.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 4937; Sahih Muslim 798

﴿ وَلَقَدۡ يَسَّرۡنَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ لِلذِّكۡرِ فَهَلۡ مِن مُّدَّكِرٖ ﴾ 54:17

“And We have certainly made the Quran easy for remembrance – so is there anyone who will remember?”
Quran 54:17

That is why Quran Masterclass is free – and why the Shams Method exists: so that nobody has to postpone the most important learning of their life.

A Quran learning platform for memorizing, understanding and reciting

﴿ إِنَّ هَٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ يَهۡدِي لِلَّتِي هِيَ أَقۡوَمُ ﴾ 17:9

Quran Masterclass combines verse-by-verse audio from renowned reciters with word-by-word meaning, transliteration and classical tafsir. You hear a verse, see every word light up, and read what it means and what scholars explained about it – all on one screen, on your phone or computer.

Whether you want to memorize the Quran (hifz), understand its meaning (fahm) or improve your recitation (tilawa and tajweed), the app adapts: hide words and recite from memory, repeat verses or whole passages, and let spaced repetition show you what to review today. A kids mode makes learning simple and fun for children.

Three ways to learn – one platform

Choose what matters to you today. You can switch at any time; your progress stays.

Memorize (Hifz)

Build a daily memorization routine: listen, read along, hide words, recite from memory and review at the right time. The review schedule brings every verse back before you forget it.

Start memorizing

Understand (Fahm)

Read the meaning of every word, follow the transliteration and open the tafsir next to the verse. Understanding makes memorizing easier and lasts longer.

Start understanding

Recite (Tilawa)

Listen to renowned reciters verse by verse at your own speed, repeat difficult passages and follow every word as it is recited.

Start reciting

How it works

The method: new, recent, old

Traditional hifz teachers work with three portions every day. Quran Masterclass follows the same structure:

  1. 01

    Sabaq – the new lesson

A few verses you learn today: listen several times, read along, then hide the words.

  2. 02

    Sabqi – the recent past

The portion of the last days. A short daily repetition keeps it fresh.

  3. 03

    Manzil – the long past

Everything you learned before, repeated in rotation so that nothing fades.

The spaced-repetition schedule (after 1, 3, 7, 14, 30 and 90 days) decides when each verse returns – you only practise what needs it.

Everything in one place

  • 01

    Verse by verse

Play a single verse, repeat it, slow it down, or loop a whole passage.

  • 02

    Word by word

Every word lights up as it is recited, with transliteration and meaning.

  • 03

    Tafsir alongside

Read the classical commentary for the verse you are listening to, with sources.

  • 04

    Memorize for good

Hide words, recite from memory and let spaced repetition tell you what to review today.

  • 05

    Kids mode

Big colors, simple buttons and star rewards – learning that children enjoy.

  • 06

    14 languages

Arabic, Turkish, Urdu, Persian, Pashto, German, English, French and more – interface and translation in your language.

  • 07

    Notes and bookmarks

Save verses, write your own reflections and find them again on every device.

  • 08

    Reading view

Switch between verse cards and a continuous reading view with verse markers, page, juz and hizb.

  • 09

    Search

Find any verse by a word – in Arabic or in the language you read.

Your Quran map

Every surah is a box that shows how well you know it: green sits firmly, gold is wobbling, red is difficult. Tap a surah to see every verse – and know exactly what to review next.

For children and families

Kids mode simplifies everything: large text, bright colors, word-by-word help and star rewards after each verse. Start with short surahs and let your child listen, follow along and recite at their own pace.

Try kids mode

Learn to recite beautifully

Good recitation starts with listening. Compare reciters, slow the audio down, repeat a verse as often as you need and follow every word as it is recited. Tajweed colors and rule explanations are being added step by step.

﴿ وَرَتِّلِ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ تَرۡتِيلًا ﴾ 73:4

Frequently asked questions

﴿ فَسۡـَٔلُوٓاْ أَهۡلَ ٱلذِّكۡرِ إِن كُنتُمۡ لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ ﴾ 16:43

How can I memorize the Quran with Quran Masterclass?

Listen to a verse, then switch on “Hide half” or “Hide all” and recite it from memory. Reveal the verse and rate how well you knew it. The app schedules your next review after 1, 3, 7, 14, 30 and 90 days, so verses move into long-term memory.

Which languages and translations are available?

The interface and the Quran translation are available in German, English, Arabic, French, Spanish, Chinese, Indonesian and Persian. Transliteration in Latin letters helps you read the Arabic text.

Is there a tafsir (Quran commentary) for every verse?

Classical commentaries such as Ibn Kathir (abridged) are shown next to the verse with their source. Where no tafsir exists in your language, English sources are shown instead.

Is Quran Masterclass free?

Yes. You can listen, read and memorize for free. A free account saves your progress, bookmarks and review plan on all your devices. Visitors without an account can open tafsir for a limited number of verses per day.

Is there a mode for children?

Yes. Kids mode uses large text, bright colors, simple buttons and star rewards, so children can listen, follow word by word and practise short surahs.

How long does it take to memorize a surah?

It depends on its length and your daily time. With 10 to 15 minutes a day, a short surah can be secured within days; the review schedule then keeps it in memory.

Can I use Quran Masterclass without knowing Arabic?

Yes. Transliteration shows how each word is read, and the translation and word-by-word meaning explain it. You learn reading and meaning together.

Which reciters can I choose?

Several renowned reciters are available and more are being added. You can switch the reciter at any time.

Is my data safe?

We store only what is needed for your account and your learning progress, and we do not sell data. You can ask for an export or deletion at any time.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. The site is built for phones first and works on tablets and computers in all supported languages.

What is the difference between tafsir and translation?

A translation renders the words into your language. A tafsir is a commentary by scholars that explains context, meanings and rulings.

Can children use it alone?

Kids mode is designed for children, but we recommend that parents accompany younger learners and choose the content together.
